BLAIRGOWRIE HIGH SCHOOL CHARITY GALA DINNER
Welcome to the CCA

CCA- Suppliers

My name is Ewan MacGregor and I am currently organising the third charity gala dinner in Blairgowrie. The reason I am writing to you is I appreciate the cost in supporting someone like my son Gordon in fulfilling their dream of becoming a chef, and not every child has the resources or parents or guardians who will support them.  It is with this in mind that I set up 3 years ago a charity Gala Dinner to raise funds for the local school to help such pupils. This years event is on Thursday 15th March. Gordon left school last year and became Scottish Trainee Chef of the year 2006 and I hope this will be an inspiration to other pupils. The evening consists of Champagne and fresh canapés on arrival, a Four course Gourmet meal with wines, coffee and fresh petit fours, all for £30 per head, (have to make it affordable for parents of pupils) hence the low price. This year 42 pupils from Blairgowrie High School will prepare, produce and serve this Gourmet meal. I have enlisted the help of 6 Top Local chefs to help the pupils with the preparation and cooking of the meal, Kevin MacGilivray Director of Eat Scotland is one of the chefs, Gleneagles Hotel kindly provided a full days in-house training for me at the Hotel, and on the night one of their top front of house managers will be on hand to guide the pupils on front of house duties. last year I raised £1750 for the school hospitality fund and the year before £1250 this year I hope to increase the money raised. I am indebted to the many sponsors who have come on board to help me, they include M&S who supply the wine, The Scottish Butcher of the Year Simon Howie for the meat, CCA education, Gleneagles Hotel, Ballathie House Hotel, Henderson Marquees, Gordon Cater Hire, and many more. As part of the evening I run an Auction for a variety of items and if you felt it was in order and indeed possible, if Phil could not been involved a signed book would go down well in the auction. This year I am hoping STV will come along to film the pupils in action and highlight that we are the only school in Scotland that have taken the initiative to educate pupils in the art of catering and healthy eating. Last year 10 of the students went into careers in the Hospitality industry.
