Text Box: So Jamie Oliver moves his roadshow into education, under the title ‘Jamie’s School Dinners’.                           What do we expect from this latest serving from Channel 4? To find some secret recipe that allows the cooks to produce wonderful nutritional food that the kids will lap up, or to realize that the budgets are too tight and the kids really aren’t interested outside of chips, burger, pizza and a cola. Well Jamie found out that the budget was almost impossible and that by overspending he Text Box: was immediately called to a meeting with the Head, who pointed out that to overspend would impact on the academic budgets, the slightly ruffled Jamie said little in response. Well we all knew that conversation would take place at some point...what it did point out was that you’ve got to get it right, Jamie produced a wonderful range of meals and choice, but to what cost? the programme told us that the meal uptake was alright, so the real cost, food including the waste, too much. This dilemma Text Box: is with our members daily and the balance is a fine one, Jamie will find out that it will be necessary to find the balance between choice and demand.           
The underlying truth is all to plain to see, food produced with the worst bits of dead animals, fat, salt and additives, almost certainly impairs behaviour and concentration and is contributing towards future health crisis. 
A shot across the bows of the forces that allow our schoolchildren to poison themselves.
