Ian, enjoyed the experience, and when reporting to the Board he told all that, ‘To be involved in the kitchen with the pupils was a lot of fun’ he went on to add that ‘seeing the CCA help, is excellent, not only did the school receive help but also allowed the CCA some positive contact and awareness’ on that Ian commented that by giving this help, ‘Staff at the school were interested on what we [CCA] do, I directed them towards the website, the feedback was excellent, the network opportunities are endless’.
The biggest surprise was to Text Box: come, that was in the equipment, ’All the kitchens were kitted out with household appliances, which are fine, but the quality of utensils was poor, not in maintenance, it  had came to its natural end’. With this in mind a request was made to the Board members that help in purchasing some needy equipment was provided. 
The CCA decided that the cause was worthwhile and the school duly received enough utensils and equipment to fit out three of the classrooms.
  As an on going project Ian has made himself available to continue at the school as the

The website has pictures of the  students and teachers as well as the finished items from the prelim exam. ‘From all accounts the pupils all done well [in their exams] and go to the finals with confidence' said Ian, ’A few of the pupils asked about careers in catering, which casts my mind back to when I was their age’, reminisced Ian. 
Into the future, a glass framed unit with be located at the entrance of the Home Economics department, in which will have a series of pictures of the CCA visit. A CCA logo will also be displayed, for all to see the help that has been given. 
Later in the term the CCA are trying to arrange a visit from celebrity chef Anthony Flinn, a short visit is being arranged for the pupils to see Anthony in full flow, this will capture the imagination of any youngster this is a tremendous opportunity for the school as well as the CCA.

Text Box: The CCA have returned to the grassroots for their latest project, by helping one of our members school ‘Home Economics’ department.
The call came to the Board for help to provide chef help for the students as they prepared for their prelim exams. Chairman Ian, took up the call and duly prepared the menu and gave out some advise, in knife skills and the cooking process. As a follow up Ian returned in a supervisory role to guide the 5th Form students, as they put their finishing touches to their exam preparation.

 This project was selected because it encompasses our ‘Grassroots’ philosophy of spreading the word of the CCA  to the students moving into the trade.
